Bad Hand Pump: Not Recommended

UPDATE July 17, 2018: Following my update below, I've had the opportunity to test the Chefman on two consecutive Sabbaths (Shabbat) and it works so much better! It only took a few pumps to fill 8 oz. cup with hot water. I later unplugged the device and tried the hand pump again, and it still took more than three pumps to fill the cup. I'm increasing my star rating to three even though I like the device but I believe it can still be improved. I seem to recall that a few weeks ago I was at a friend's house on Shabbat and her pot of hot water needed only one pump to fill the entire cup: you pressed the pump and water flowed until you stopped pressing! This is how I think a manual water pump should work. Again, customer support gets 5 stars for replacing a device after all warranties and service contracts have expired. At least thanks chef for that! UPDATE July 2, 2018: Chefman Co. sent me a new heating pad via Revain. , although the return and support period has expired. I give them FIVE STARS for their customer service. Hopefully I'll plug it in today and update my product review when I have more information on how it works. I purchased a Chefman instant electric heating pad in March 2018 to replace my Classic Kitchen electric heating pad, specifically for its electric spout button locking feature and hand pump for use on Shabbat (Jewish Shabbat making/breaking a circuit is prohibited) . having hot water for coffee tea etc. Initially the hand pump worked, albeit not so smoothly: I had to pump hard to pump out the water, which came in shorter jets than my Classic kitchen unit (which finally died after 9-10 years). Then, about a month later, almost no water came out: I had to pump the hand pump up and down painfully quickly to pour an appreciable amount of hot water into the cup—so much so that my arm ached from the pressure required to pump. !Also, I don't like the design: the lid reclines and comes back, but isn't removed from the block, making it difficult to fill and dry when empty: you have to prop the open lid with something long. for example a long wooden spoon to let air circulate and dry it. My previous Classic kitchen unit had a removable lid - very handy. I went with a cheaper brand instead of buying a new Classic kitchen unit and I'm paying the price for it. I wrote this review today because I was looking for a return policy to return my Chefman but it expired in April (1 month return policy) and product support expired a month later. I'm sticking with this device until I win the Powerball ;-) . I don't recommend it if you buy it because of the "Shabbat feature". However, if your goal is to have an electric hot water jug that you will keep filled for a week for instant coffee or tea etc, then everything is fine except for the attached lid.
