Review on All Clad Gourmet WD822D51 Waffle Silver by Chelsea Hicks

I've been a waffle fanatic all my life. My love of waffles was instilled in me from a young age by my father and I have worked hard to pass this on to my children. I bought this product after years of buying cheap waffle makers only to have to replace them every few years. Worked great the first few times. Then something happened to the thermostat or something and it didn't turn off regardless of the setting. The end-of-cooking beep sounded prematurely and repeated every few seconds even though the waffles weren't done yet. So. I set about setting the timer. Not a perfect solution, but better than nothing. Then it happened. Another family member who made waffles on our previous machines plugged it in and set it to "4". Only naturally, when the desired temperature was reached, it did not turn off, but started smoking. Next thing you know, the fire alarm is going off. So we turned it off, but at that point, and it wasn't very many minutes, the control knob didn't work and the machine wouldn't turn on at all. The search for spare parts or a place for repair ended in vain efforts - there is neither one nor the other. So now I have a car that I've owned for less than two years, I was hoping to get at least 20 of these but now it's obsolete. Shame - the finishes and iron are phenomenal - the fixtures are rubbish. It would be nice to be able to fix it easily, but no joy so far. Disappointing, to say the least, in every way. By the way, I have All-Clad pots and pans and they are great. Maybe they should stick to what they're good at.
