Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install, works flawlessly and DOES NOT require a hub!

Before purchasing this switch I was already familiar with TP-Link products as I had used several of their smart Wi-Fi sockets for over a year and was very happy with them. I also had some experience with light switches like this, I installed about ten of these switches in my house. These switches work fine, but they are all made by a different company and require a hub. What I like about this TP-Link switch is that it is easy to install and integrate like other TP-Link products and it does NOT require a hub. Lutron light switches and Samsung Smartthings devices do not connect directly to your home network over Wi-Fi, but rather through their own proprietary hub, a small device that you plug into your router or connect to your home Wi-Fi network. hub, but it's an extra piece of hardware and thus another layer of complexity.) Here are some things I really like about this switch: 1) Easy to install. If you're familiar with installing a dimmer, you shouldn't have any trouble with it. Conveniently, installation instructions are found in the TP-Link phone app (named "Kasa") and are VERY easy to follow. They will guide you through each step with pictures and very clear instructions. It was easy. 2) Easy Activation: Just open the TP-Link app on your phone, select "Add Device" and after a few steps, you can control the light switch from your phone from anywhere in the world. world.3) Easy integration with Revain Echo and other voice control platforms. 4) The Kasa app gives you tremendous control over the switch: you can set schedules, procedures and even "scenes" that turn on the light switch with another smart home. Devices such as music players or blinds. 5) The switch itself actually looks nice on the wall (although this is a matter of personal opinion of course!). Note that while it looks like a rocker switch, it doesn't actually rock up and down; You press the bottom of the switch to turn the light on AND off. A small round LED inside the switch lights up when the light is on, which is useful if the switch is controlling a light that isn't visible from the switch position (e.g. a light outside your home). I didn't find anything I didn't like about this light switch. A word of advice: I have smart devices from several different manufacturers and most of them allow you to create schedules and procedures through their own applications. Luckily they all work with the Revain Echo, so after installing a new smart device I integrate it with Alexa and use Alexa to control it. This way I can control all my smart home devices with just one app instead of using each individual manufacturer's app to control specific devices. If I control everything with Alexa, I can also set scripts and routines that include smart devices from different manufacturers (e.g. if you have light switches from one manufacturer and smart sockets from another company). I am very happy with this switch. and I'm still very impressed with TP-Link's smart home products!
