My main reason for getting this is my dog seems to be irritated when step in harnesses rub his armpits. This has eliminated the discomfort from that. I have a Maltese and he pulls when excited. The benefit of the step in was the pressure was on his chest, the front strap on this harness puts pressure above his chest bone so while I don't think it's high enough to cause tracheal collapse, it still causes him to wheeze. Thankfully he only pulls when we're on the way outside. He seems much less restricted in this harness. He moves freely and appears to be comfortable.
