I built my PC in 2012 and have upgraded it over the years. I originally built it with 4GB of RAM (one of those sticks) and added another about a year later for a total of 8GB. Fast forward to today, and this machine has been suffering from random freezes for about six months, with Windows always pointing to the video driver as an error. It did this maybe once a week, eventually getting worse until one day after a Windows 10 update, it stopped booting. I did the old "pull one stick at a time" and found that the second module was the source of all the problems. I bought another one to replace it. I always like to use matching RAM whenever possible. You could say seven years is a good run, but I've been building PCs for many, many years and the RAM modules have lasted much longer, especially the second bank module which is undoubtedly used less than the first. Looking at other reviews, it seems that Corsair has no quality control. I've had good luck with cheaper generic modules in the past and would probably go down that route rather than Corsair in the future. In my experience, the brand does not play a role in the durability of RAM modules. Your mileage may vary.
