It really works if you follow the instructions in the YouTube video!

Having never touched a sewing machine before, I was able to fill the machine and hem my pajamas in 5 minutes after watching a YouTube video. I couldn't believe it actually worked, thought it was a gimmick and I'd return it. As for durability I don't really know, I've hemmed 6 pairs of pajamas and they're still working. It's plastic so don't drop it, but for $30 it's a killer.
