O.K., it's a pretty ugly hat. But for sun protection, it works great! The sides come down far enough that ears, nose, chin, and neck are shaded. Since the brim is wired, you can flip the front up when you need to see better. Even though I got the navy, it wasn't overly hot on my head in 85F weather. It was a little large for my head, but fit is adjustable with an internal pull-string. My only complaint is that it becomes a sail in the wind. You really do have to use the adjustable neck strap if it's windy.
