Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Leofoto LS-324C+LH-40 Tripod Kit: Carbon Fiber CF, 4 Sections & 40mm Low Profile Ball Head by Anna Barnett

Good rigidity but not very smooth operation

I bought this tripod to use as a travel tripod for which it's a little bulky but handy and really very strong and stable but overall not as impressive as expected after reading all the raving reviews. The loops on the legs are very tight, so very little muscle power is required to open them. The twist lock operation and leg extension is very exciting, the legs definitely don't just slip out, they have to be pulled. Some other similarly priced Chinese-made tripods fare much better, but it's hard to find something this strong in this weight range. With the tripod fully extended you have to bend down a bit to look through the viewfinder, but that should be apparent from the specs and with a lightweight tripod I'd rather sacrifice size than stability. The included LH-40 head feels weak. As a reviewer before me wrote, the thread pitch on the clamp is too large meaning the slightest turn of the screw will loosen the grip on the mounting plate and the camera will start to slip, and hopefully you used a plate with security screws (included included) to keep camera and lens from flying. The friction knob is completely useless, a very small turn results in a large adjustment. In fact, I feel like the friction button and main lock button do the same thing, only one is smaller than the other, but you can easily switch their roles. I would use a headless tripod if possible. The Sirui K30X ball head, for example, is the same size and weight, but much stiffer, more comfortable to use, and cheaper. In my opinion even the smaller K20X is a better choice as it saves some size and weight over the LH-40. After all these negative comments, I would like to stress that the LS-324C is a very solid tripod, really hard to beat for the price, although I would have liked a little more attention to detail.
