I've been using the 5-bay RAID version of the Yottamaster on Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) for a few months. I suggest spending some time reading the instructions (you can find them online) as it can save you a lot of frustration later. I am using 5 x 5TB hard drives in a RAID 5 (4+1) configuration which gives 20TB of usable space. When Mac OS spotted this device, it was in all its glory at 20TB. Good. Performance is good for both reads and writes (I'm using USB 3.0 and can handle around 80-90% line speed for reads, but haven't tested writes). Yotta gets 4 stars because SO MUCH is not listed in the documentation. ! Remember that RAID 5 was designed to protect your data from a single disk failure. Brilliant. AND ALSO . How do I know if a drive has failed so I can replace it before another fails and I lose all 20TB of my data? mmm You should (obviously) look for the red lights on the bezel. This is a problem for me as I stow the case out of sight. There is no OS notification of hard drive failure. Even if I drive it doesn't work, what should I do? Can I just take the drive out and replace it with a working array (that would be my expectation). I haven't found an explanation for the RAID set rebuild process. (Even if I put in a new drive, is it automatically recognized and RAID rebuilding starts automatically? If so, how do I know when it's complete and I'm protected again?) If I had the time, I'd check it out. devices and post replies. I'm disappointed that I can't find any answers on the manufacturer's website. If I'm wrong - if someone found this information on the YottaMaster website - write back and I will apologize and change my rating to 5 stars.
