Decent performance with some caveats

Yottamaster is easy to set up and install. The only reason the product isn't being given 5 stars is because all drives are either powered on or off (ie you can't just turn off one or more drives without turning them all off). The device is relatively quiet and the fan noise is okay with sufficient cooling of the built-in drives.

Randomly spins down my hard drive while data is in use

I have a 24/7 security system that writes to multiple drives and turns off a drive or two during video capture. This auto-sleep feature should only be used when the drive isn't in use, but the 24/7 recording and overwriting isn't the 10-minute downtime of the others. Came back and bought a simple cheap device from another brand.

Annoying, it would be great if he stayed.

I had pretty basic expectations. I wanted to use some perfectly good used NAS drives for occasional movie storage. It works quite well until it doesn't work anymore. It randomly loses connection and I have to turn it on and off multiple times before my setup recognizes it and I can use it again. I'd use a Wi-Fi socket, but the damn thing won't restart unless you press the stupid button on the back after turning the device off. Waste of money if nothing left. Nothing else we have has this…

Great solution for storing large volumes!

So far, so good! That was incredible. I bought this and 5 Seagate 10TB external hard drives. I removed the external external devices and placed them in the bay, set the raid type to 5 using the controls on the back. The configuration switches in the instructions are wrong, but there is a guide on the sticker on the back of the device. I had to turn it off, hold down the install button with a pen on the back, it beeped, and after 10 seconds my Windows 10 server saw 36 terabytes of storage…

Good block with minimal support

I'm starting to use it to house 5 discrete drives (no RAID or JBOD). I've been plagued by requests to consider this device a RAID host. It's outside my wheelhouse. Please ask someone else! The device is robust and easy to set up with a 4-pin micro switch. The instructions are sparse but well written. Overall I am very satisfied with this device. However, I have two problems with the product. It applies a kind of power-saving profile that turns off the device after a few hours of inactivity…

Recommended - mostly good

I bought two FS4C3 4-bay units to use with four Western Digital 12TB drives. The fan is quiet, but keeps the drives at 35 degrees even under load, which is good. I haven't had any connection issues and the devices appear to be well built and sturdy. The packaging of one of the devices was in poor condition. The device was returned and was poorly glued. I assume this is the fault of Revane and the previous customer. Revain seems to be the only source. So if you want an undiscovered item, all you

Possibly the best in its class, but only time will tell

I've had it for less than a month now and it's working great. This thing is either brilliantly made or a piece of crap, but only time will tell. My app didn't have any meaningful documentation, which is a major weakness. I spent 2 hours discovering 2 extremely important details that SOMEONE could have mentioned in all the reviews I've read. 1. To set the configuration, you need to press and hold the set button WHILE turning on the device AT THE SAME TIME. 2. If you want to change the…

Easy setup and good performance.

I've been using the 5-bay RAID version of the Yottamaster on Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) for a few months. I suggest spending some time reading the instructions (you can find them online) as it can save you a lot of frustration later. I am using 5 x 5TB hard drives in a RAID 5 (4+1) configuration which gives 20TB of usable space. When Mac OS spotted this device, it was in all its glory at 20TB. Good. Performance is good for both reads and writes (I'm using USB 3.0 and can handle around 80-90%…
