I know that people either love this bike or they don't. I personally don't think there is a right/wrong wheel for rodents. This depends on your pet and your comfort level as a pet owner. We have both this mesh design and a one-piece closed-side plastic wheel. 2 of our female rats prefer the all-plastic wheel and the other prefers this open mesh.
