I replaced my workstation (i7 3820) with a 5930. The 3820 was used as an office server for a time. However, huge databases quickly overwhelmed it. (Utilization 700%). A quick look at the X79 Extreme6 motherboard showed that it supports the E5-2680 processor. update time. The load dropped to about 30%. Some MySQL optimizations further reduced the load. Data analysis > 200+ thousand database inserts > 5 million+ record updates daily. The thing doesn't even sweat. I can't believe how fast this thing is.
