Review on πŸ” Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS Lens: Exceptional Zoom and Image Stabilization by Ta Wan ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect product for any user!

If it weren't for the stabilizer and the difficulties with backlighting - a fire lens for its class and price. From competitors for this money, a similar picture can only be obtained from a fix, and even then not for everyone. Whales of other brands with this lens are even ridiculous to compare. De jure a whale lens, de facto quite a middle class confident zoom for every day, especially if you are an amateur or the budget for a photo system is limited. Most of all in the picture 18-55 I was pleased with the color, very rich and saturated. For some other brands, a similar color is achieved only at zooms twice as expensive. The lens has high potential and a margin of opportunity. I think this is the very thing on which photography is worth learning: it won’t make masterpieces for the photographer, but it will respond to the growth of the skill with excellent pictures. In general, against the background of whales and the average level of standard zooms of competitors, the shortcomings look pale. Do not shoot on it against bright light sources, and if you have to, then only in RAW)) In total, Fuji is really great with this lens. I would not take it separately, and even a new one, but as part of a kit kit, this is the best solution among all crop systems at the moment. Since the main buyer of the lens, apparently, is amateurs and beginners, I don’t want to find fault at all.

Pros
  • + Nice non-whale picture with luxurious color and even pattern. The lens is exactly soft, not soapy :) + Solid durable constructive non-whale level; + There is an aperture ring; + If anyone cares - the lens is compact and quite light, despite the solid assembly;
Cons
  • -Low detail and average sharpness at most focal lengths and apertures, and especially not pleased with angles closer to 50mm; -Stabilizer. It is not needed here - the lens is not professional, it squanders the picture, the price is higher because of it, and the aperture ratio is lower; -It doesn’t cope with backlight at all, even for a whale it’s too much;
