positives:- nice packaging (see unboxing pic) if you wanted to gift it.- the heating surface is metal. This is good. I have used other warmers with glass surfaces but they dont conduct heat as well and only really heat properly if the cup makes contact with the area directly over the heating elements. I prefer metal over glass.- easy touch controls cycle through 3 levels of heating, and 6 timer settings.- the most important thing is how well does it keep your drinks warm. I tested it with a mug (8 oz ceramic) of tea that started at 167F in a room at 68F. I set the warmer at the max level (176F) and left it. The temp was 140F after 20 mins, and 131F after 40 mins. Not bad.- the heating surface is slightly recessed, which I like, as it helps to make sure you position the cup properly and helps keep it in place.negatives:- the appearance is ok, but it has a shiny plastic look that makes it look a little cheap. I would have preferred a matte finish. This is a minor point unless appearance is really important to you.- the touch controls emit a beep when you use them. I find it unnecessary (you can see the settings change in the small display window) and a bit annoying. Again, not a major thing, but I would have preferred silence.- a missing safety feature that can be found in other warmers is a hot temp indicator that tells you when the surface is still hot even if the heating element is not on.
