Overall I like it, does what it's supposed to do. I have an e-bike with a single 42t ring in the front and am having a chain drop issue. A dropped chain is not only frustrating but can also be dangerous, so I knew something had to be done. I had the same problem on another bike a while ago and installed a Paul Components chain holder on it. The bottom is by far the best piece of equipment, much better finished and all good alloy. However, it was MUCH more expensive than when I bought it, and I just didn't want to pay $45 for a tiny piece of metal that was about to go bad. I thought Origin8 would be worth trying for a much lower price and I'm happy with it. It's easier to install than the Paul, although the 31.8 clamp was a bit too big for my 31.8 seat tube (I solved the problem by doing a few turns of silicone tape and securing the clamp over it). Helpful Tip - Remove the seat post. End screw securing the chain guide section and remove the front of the chain guide. This allows you to see where the chain is for positioning purposes. Once you have positioned it in the desired location, tighten all the bolts on the clamp section and then reassemble the chain guide section. I've had this on my bike for 2 weeks now and the chain hasn't fallen off so it looks like the issue is resolved. So here's my summary versus Paul: Easy install definitely goes to Origin8. Being able to open up the chain guide section and see where the chain is in relation to the guide is a huge benefit. The bottom is fully enclosed and it's frustrating to position by feel alone - it's hard to know exactly where the chain is. The Origin8 has only one screw with a "snapback" clamp, which also makes it easy to tighten. The bottom is a 2 screw clamp. So if you tighten them on one side, the alignment pulls out, requiring you to keep changing positions as you go. The overall quality and sense of craftsmanship rests with Paul. In comparison, Origin8 looks cheap. That's why I give 4 stars. To sum up if 2 were the same price I would buy the Paul as it is a much better quality. However, Paul is a lot more difficult to install, and ultimately the goal is to keep your chain on the ring, right? Both do an equally effective job for this purpose, and for the most part you forget they're there once installed. If I ever have to do this again I'll probably go with Origin8 for now as it's a lot easier to install, keeps the chain as it should, and saves me $20 on downloads. If I ever have trouble with this I'll update it, but for now both network guards are doing their jobs.
