I bought this puller because I couldn't remove the tapered brake drums from a 1950's Chrysler rear axle. I apply a penetrating lubricant to the axle every day for a week. When I received the puller, I installed it, tightened it and heated the drum with a flashlight. I then applied a percussion gun to the puller and applied enough torque that I bent the 9/16 screws (see photo). The barrels were eventually released undamaged. The puller worked perfectly. I don't know if the manufacturer planned to use it with a percussion gun, but he didn't install it gradually. I am impressed!
