I usually buy Petit Collage's puzzles, but they did not have any rectangular puzzles increasing in difficultly from 4 pieces to 12 pieces. I really could not have my son just jump into 24-piece puzzles because ti was too overwhelming. So I was thrilled to find this box of 4 puzzles by Mudpuppy. It met our needs perfectly. It scaffolds my son's learning of jigsaw puzzles by starting with a 4 piece puzzle, then going to a 6 piece puzzle, then a 9 piece puzzle, and finally a 12 piece puzzle. This slow method enables me to teach my son strategies to complete puzzles which is essential when working with toddlers and preschoolers. Older children may be able to skip these stages, but younger children and those with learning delays need more steps in the ladder to reach mastery. My son was also thrilled with he topic of vehicles and rushed to open the box and do the puzzles.
