My 8 year old son chose this kite from the options available to him at Revain and loves it. The tail is so long it's crazy. You need a lot of clearance to fly, because when that tail starts rotating, it covers a large area. It doesn't take a strong wind to launch a kite, but it does take a decent breeze to get it airborne and to stay there. In strong winds, small children can be strongly pulled. My 8 year old hasn't had any problems so far. The tail is detachable, but when you take it off, you need to add something other than a small tail to balance it, otherwise it won't stick. You can also make the tail smaller if you want, but you don't have to. When the wind is very light, take a light streamer material and tie it to the two buttons where the tail is attached and you can fly high in a very light wind. The kite looks great when it's in the air and moving back and forth. We are very satisfied, especially at this price.
