I think some people maybe sent broken kites because of the bad reviews. I picked her up easily while heavily drunk. Both have repeatedly flown well in winds >6mph. This is nylon, gently bend the sticks and try to land as if there were passengers on board. Use super glue or preferably a small stitch to glue any "rod holder slots" that aren't sewn together well.

We took them to the beach (great wind for kite flying) and they were just great. Both kites flew very well and the strings were of high quality too. The surprise was the squid, which was a flying wing and flew surprisingly well. I don't know how well they fly in underwing conditions, but in strong steady winds on the beach they were both real winners.

Octopus experience as advertised. The triangular kite required a very modest amount of installation, but the small poles I was provided did not fit. The wing bars fit well - tight and secure. The spine bar is 3 inches too long as far as I can tell. I tried bending it to the point where it almost broke to try and fit it but it didn't. And it just can't be the way it's supposed to be. Without properly installed bars, it's practically useless.

We love nature and fly kites! This kite is really cool! I don't know who loves octopus more - me or my daughter. We barely got him off the ground the other day but we didn't have enough wind so it's not the kite's fault. In general I think it will be very easy to fly on a windy day. we are very happy with them. They are a little smaller than we expected but our daughter immediately exclaimed that they are KID KITE! There are good kites in our book, but plan for a good kite rope.

I've flown an octopus, looks great in the air, flies great in moderate winds. The gusts were actually pretty strong, but not enough to not pull too hard. With a gust of wind, it spins crazy circles, but stays in the air. The included leash is fairly light but didn't snap; In strong winds it's probably a good idea to use 30 or 50 pounds of line to be on the safe side. I wouldn't fly it in wind gusts over 25 km/h.
