I use them to hold the wood in the holder square and to secure the corners with pocket holes. They have sufficient clamping force. This type of clamp has such a high force that it can easily be overloaded by strong thumb pressure. They bend when forced. I adjust mine just enough so the tree doesn't move after I pinch it. You exert a lot of force when you press the locking lever lightly. These clips look just like the ones Rockler sells but are half the price. I have ordered 4 more to be able for my next device.
