We find this light too bright for a night light, especially when positioned over the counter. When your pupils are dilated, it hurts to look into the light in the middle of the night. On the other hand, if you need bright lighting in the hallway, this might be a better option. I plan to look for a light with an adjustable setting. The photographs of this lamp show an evenly lit bright lens. However, when the light is on, you actually see two parallel lights, which isn't as aesthetically pleasing. As a night light, this attribute may not bother you, but I believe product photos should give an accurate representation of the actual product.
