Review on 🏺 CamelBak Chute 750ml Water Bottle by Agustin Bush

I've been using this product for almost a year now and am very happy with it. Like many reviewers here, Chute was the result of a long search for water bottles that worked for me. Nalgene are good but too wide - they don't fit in a bottle cage and the wide opening causes sloshing and dripping. Anything with a straw or bite valve is difficult to clean. I've tried several snap spout models but found that they leak and don't wash well. I've looked at a few stainless steel models, but I'm pretty rough on these things. It will crumple immediately. Enter the parachute. Pros: Good size. Fits all the cup holders I've used from treadmills at the gym to bikes and my car. The lid has a carry handle and you can easily attach a carabiner to it if you need to tie it. The lid can be screwed down half a turn as indicated, making it very easy to unscrew and secure with one hand. I like the internal thread. Fully dishwasher safe, it should have gone through 30+ cycles. Mine shows the wear and tear I've been through and I still have a lot to do. Cons: Some reviewers noted that it leaks. I don't believe it for a second. But for me it dripped onto the papers in my pocket or dripped a little onto the seat. I don't think it's water leaking: I think it's water in the upper thread that leaks out when tipped to one side. If you fill it from a drinking cap, there is no "leakage". The lid holds securely by the handle. Reading some of these reviews people struggle with this and I agree. I almost never close the cap, I just hold it out of the way with a finger or something. It's not that hard to figure out though: there are two small ribs on either side of the grip ring, and these small ribs fit into the slightly wider bottom ring of the drinking cap. No need to squeeze the cap or use force. Simply tilt the hydration lid back so it slides between the two tabs and push down to lock. No problem. However, if I want an open container, I wouldn't use a water bottle in the first place. Another downside: I don't recommend this bottle for anything other than water unless you clean it VERY well right after. Because the threads are on the inside of the spout and lid, it can be very difficult to clean the inside of the drinking lid. There is a small gap, approximately 1/4 inch wide, between the outside wall of the cap and the plastic threads. I once made the mistake of mixing protein powder here and had to clean everything with a tiny bottle brush and two cycles in the dishwasher. . I've dropped and scratched this thing more times than I can count and it's still solid. Just take a set of bottle brushes with you.
