Deteriorating Quality - Construction Toy

We have an older model of this puzzle called Lights, Camera, Interaction that the three older children have been using for years. When a dog recently destroyed some parts of the letter, I was glad to find this as a replacement. Although the two puzzles share the same graphics and basic design, the difference in quality is striking. The new puzzle has a thinner board and finer details. The cutouts of the letters are less detailed, do not correspond to the shape of the details. There is very little space around the puzzle piece. It fits snugly which makes it difficult for toddlers to wear. The finish is also rougher so the pieces don't slide around the board and snap together very easily. I think we're going to put this new puzzle aside and let the kid play with the old one. It may not have all the letters anymore, but it's a nicer puzzle.
