Instead of using a second tier that is raised like in the picture, I installed it flush with the main tabletop, which increased the surface area, and the fitting fits perfectly. Although I used a couple of bolts for the upgrade, I end up with a couple of carriage bolts. The bottom shelf came in handy for a MIDI hub, and the back rail would have been great for cable management if I'd cleaned up a bit. It's very strong and strong, assembly was easy and took about half an hour.
