It frustrated me at first and yes my nails got ripped off as I learned from repetition and tried to discover things but as I got smarter I succeeded every time. To connect the extension cord: 1. Separate the wires, straighten them out, bends are a pain2. Make sure each colored wire is tucked neatly under each gold metal V-clip and pushed deep behind the terminals. Then press firmly with your fingers. Hold and use pliers to finish squeezing and snap cap into place.3. Check your work through the clear cover, making sure each wire is aligned and in place. To connect the LED strip: 1. Open the transparent cover of WIDE2. Make sure the LED strip pins are under the pins. 3. Press with your fingers, they should snap into place. Use pliers if necessary. I have not found anything better than these and now that I know the assembly drill I will be buying them again.
