Takes too long - ice cream doesn't get crystal clear

My wife bought this for me for Christmas and we tried to make some ice cream scoops out of it. First let me say that the box is very nice. The press is quite heavy and looks well made. It was the best. There is no direction to start. After watching a few videos online we made some ice cubes in individual cups and started making balls. The first one went very slowly, so I decided to help it with warm water. We finished our first "ball" in about 20 minutes. However, it was egg-shaped. Since I was using warm water to accelerate I assumed it might have affected the shape and decided to try again. The second was round but lasted 43 minutes. On the third, I gave up for 45 minutes. So, is it possible, yes, if you have a lot of time! But here is another question. If you start with cloudy ice, you will end up with cloudy ice. For clear ice balls you need a slow freezing system. Not knowing my wife bought this, I bought a crystal clear ice ball generator for $29 just before Christmas. This manufacturer produces perfectly transparent balls in about 24 hours. They end in several small spurs where there is a hole for pouring water, but they can be broken off. Whiskey costs too much money, takes too long, doesn't have instructions, and won't put out your ice balls. Don't waste money. Buy one of the Crystal Clear Ice Makers and save $220.
