My fish survived the first dose but they obviously don't like something about it. Right after I added it, swimming almost like mad, they disappeared for the whole day. I only used about 2/3 or 3/4 the recommended amount, mixed that amount with 1 gallon of water and added to my 400 gallon outdoor pond. There was no way to greatly reduce the oxygen in the few seconds it took the fish to react, so it must have been the smell, or maybe it bothered the fish's eyes, but they didn't enjoy it 100% . I will continue to use it, but less often and in smaller amounts than recommended. The algae have been noticeably reduced and I don't mind if it takes longer to clear completely. I would suggest using this at the lowest dose at the first sign of algae rather than waiting for algae to build up when you decide to try it.
