So far, so good! About GPS, Finder & Accessories

I wanted an RV GPS with a built in DVR so I had my eye on the dezlCam 785 but ended up buying the RV 780 and dedicated DVR just before the RV 785 hit the market came. I was able to return the RV 780 as I was within 30 days of purchase. (DezlCam is pronounced "diesel cam" and is for trucker.) The only bug so far is that I've turned off all notifications in the Garmin Drive app, but new emails and texts are popping up on the RV 785. (I have another device that runs on Garmin Drive and respects the "no notifications" setting, so I'm not doing anything wrong.) The RV 785 is much heavier than the RV 780 due to its rubber casing (which is good) and This makes it stay on the RV dash better, although the "bean bag" mount still shifts a bit when hitting bridge connections and the like. I ended up placing a small piece of Velcro underneath the beanbag mount because a slight movement of the RV 785's position not only changed the viewing angle, but also the direction of the dashcam and associated functions. disappointing as previous dezlCam devices had a lens that could be rotated left to right, allowing the driver to point the GPS at themselves while keeping the dashcam pointed straight ahead. DezlCam 785 also has a fixed lens. The dezlCam 785 specs show a 50 degree field of view, ie +/- 25 degrees from center, which is incredibly narrow for a DVR. I couldn't find the viewing angle specs for the RV 785 but I suspect they are the same. In practice, it has turned out that the limited viewing angle is not as important in our mobile home as it is in a car. Because the RV 785 sits on the dash (for me), it's actually a few feet from the windshield, unlike the car. Also, unlike a car, an RV has a very large front "blind spot" due to the driver's height and a large dashboard between the driver and the windshield. Our RV has a 13 foot blind spot because it has a sloping dashboard, but other RVs with a flat dashboard can have a blind spot of over 20 feet. If you are using the RV 785 in Class B, Class C or towing a trailer, the limited viewing angle of the dashcam can be of great concern to you. When searching for a campsite, you will see the same campsite more than once. with data and reviews from multiple sources (TripAdvisor, etc.) and combines all information from multiple perspectives. This is very handy if you don't know the campsite. So far we've only encountered one bridge with limited height, and the RV 785's directions perfectly matched those of the campsite to avoid it. Google Maps, Waze and Mapquest wanted to route the 8ft 6in long covered bridge. We've only had one RV 785 a month, but so far it has met all our expectations, if not some. When a speed limit change is approaching, the speed limit "sign" will change to yellow and the device will beep to alert you of the upcoming change. The volume is more than sufficient for a noisy camper interior. The brightness is great too. I've never used GPS voice control, but it's handy on the RV 785 because it's a lot farther from the driver than it is in the car. Virginia. We set up a trip, clicked Edit Route, and clicked on a hotspot near Columbus, Ohio. The route has changed: we now use I-71 to Cincinnati and then I-75 to Florida as we wanted. When it comes to security, however, Garmin needs to work together. The RV 785 runs on Android version 6.0.1, which has reached its end of life date and is not currently supported. Not good. Since the RV 785 can be connected to the internet to get updates and indeed has a built-in browser, Garmin needs to install the RV 785 on a supported version of Android. I suspect that since the RV 785 is based on Android, it is the predecessor. for Garmin, which is releasing a version of its products for tablets.
