Review on Garmin Dakota 10 2.6-Inch Touchscreen Handheld GPS Navigator: Bike and Hike Bundle for Unbeatable Outdoor Navigation by John Benjamin

Dakota 10 also works in Colorado

After years of struggling with multiple buttons in the mud with my e-trex, I wanted a simpler, faster, and lighter GPS for hiking and off-trail hunting. I chose the Dakota 10 because it was an inexpensive touchscreen with reasonable reviews. After downloading the 1:24k topographic map and reading the manual the D-10 was great to use - everything I expected and needed. However, loading the map required (after a frustrating couple of hours) a call to a very helpful person. I would never have figured it out with the manual or the video I received. The only other issue was that the screen was hard to see in full light - doable but tricky. It's a great little car and I look forward to more rides in the Colorado mountains. One clue comes from the fact that (after D-10) I was in a lake when checking my position. This apparent error was caused by the device not giving the device enough time to determine my position at 20-40 feet when I would have given it a few more seconds to search for satellites.
