This is a replacement lamp. Looks, fits and behaves like the lightbulb it replaces and the price is good. I used them to pull over the stove. Works perfectly. If you are unfamiliar with halogen bulbs, be aware that they are very energy efficient and they are HOT! Unfortunately, my range hood doesn't support cooler, more efficient LED bulbs.
