Breaking off the tip of a hand tool

The blades are sharp and inexpensive BUT the tip is blunt so I decided to snap off a piece with the tip of the knife as usual. to have. As hard as I tried, it just didn't work. I then used pliers and goggles, with a lot of effort it finally broke off, but across and not like a corner where it was supposed to click. I'm glad I put the glasses on because the tip could have gone anywhere if I didn't have a good grip on the blade with the pliers. I don't recommend them.
