They charge via USB. So if you need a power adapter these aren't the ones. We've traveled around the US with them and they worked great. Whenever we heard someone on our public channel, we tuned them down and we've never had a problem using them on the public channels. The distances varied, but we were always within reach. We just plugged them into a USB charger while driving and never had a problem. For the money they were absolutely perfect for this app!
