I don't know why it took so long to buy them. I used to line my counter with towels and had to replace them every few days so they wouldn't smell like wet, smelly towels. I bought them and wanted to see how long they would last without the smelly smell. It's been a month and they smell great. I dry some jars right on the carpet and tested them and there was no weird lingering smell. I don't have windows in my kitchen due to the odd layout of my apartment. I wash dishes at least twice a day. I know it sounds weird and my experiment is over I will wash them every week. To give you some context, I'm very sensitive to smell, I change my sponge every 3-4 days, although I call it up and hang dry after each use. I just can't stand smelly things.
