I already have 2 Garmin devices and wanted to upgrade to a model with lifetime map updates. The thinner and wider screen is perfect, it's big enough to hold and use a touchscreen without being too bulky. I definitely noticed a difference in the response time to the touchscreen, there are no lags on this model and the "recalculation / search for signals" is solved much faster. The only downer is that the volume rocker has moved from a dial on the side of the device to a touchscreen, which requires leaving the map view - why complicate it?
