The Dell E5470 has an NGFF slot as well as a SATA drive cable connector designed for a standard 2.5 inch laptop drive. They take up the same space, so you can only use one or the other. With very minor modifications, there is enough room to put this part next to an NGFF SSD motherboard, making a total of two SSDs in the machine. I have Changes seen online where m-SATA was used, but m-SATA drives are expensive now. All new NGFF drives. Improvements-Cut off the SATA connector (both on this board and on the laptop cable) in the top left corner with a hand file, trim the NGFF bracket for a laptop, right at the screw holes, and insert a new screw to hold the SSD in this board. Removing the NGFF bracket and inserting this board into the bay makes it clear where to cut to leave enough room for the main SSD also holds this board in place. Finally, the screw that comes with the circuit board protrudes from below when tightened. Find a shorter one or file the included screw so it doesn't lift the bottom of the adapter during installation. There are no changes to the laptop itself, just an NGFF mount and a detachable SATA cable. SATA drive slot and another drive slot which can be SATA or NVMe. As you can see from the picture, I currently only have one SSD, but it fits in any slot. In the near future I plan to add an NVMe SSD while still booting from the current SATA drive.
