I bought a set of two velvet lined Autumn Casual jemis hats ($16 then, Prime) from Kayier Trade Limited. The velvet does NOT cover the entire interior but covers most of it (as shown in promotional photos). I just ordered my second set of the same hat (without velvet this time) so I have the right scarf and hat combo (no particular reason but because I can! LOL) and so I can try hats without velvet. I've worn the velvet both closed and with long hair sticking through the hole to see the different effects. Two of my teenagers said they looked a lot like hats and looked a lot like me. I don't know if that's good or bad lol. I wear them all the time but the weather is getting warmer (over 60 degrees) so they (velvet) are getting too warm. But I get hot fast and that's a personal opinion, not a fact for everyone. But they (velvet) are of course comfortable. Check out the promotional images. It can be worn as a choker scarf or as a hat. You can let your (medium/long) hair hang back or not. The beanie is shaped like a twisted seam so when you put the beanie on the back is snug (no gaping hole). I make sure to keep the hem lined with velvet and give it a good shake before putting it on, this seems to guarantee a closed top to me. I wear it slouched for the baggy back effect, which I think could help with the top closure. I haven't worn it in freezing weather, but it seems to work very well in temperatures above 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I was very skeptical about beanies because of the double opening. I am very happy to report that this is not a problem. Others complain that the hat rolls up after washing and the top no longer closes. I'm doing my first today and will only update if there are problems. If there's a problem it shouldn't be hard to sew it back up so it's curvy again, but I'll update if that's a problem. I want to order more Jamis hats but this was the only pattern that works in both velvet and solid fabric for my frou frou style. Most of the others are more geodesic in design (think Native American block patterns or see for yourself!). Jemis also advertises their hats for cancer patients, so you might need to look around for something you like. I am not a cancer patient and I have very long hair. These are the exact same hats with double open ends. I found more velvet linings, but many of them were a bit masculine (in other words, not frou frou). But they looked good. I may come back to them in the future. I haven't found any of the negative issues mentioned by others so far. Tailoring and lining are good, the 2nd hole closes well, you can put it around your neck (and pull it over your head), they don't seem to run small (for a woman). I am very happy with this purchase. I will update if necessary.
