After being a vegetarian for about two years, I found that my diet was creatine deficient which may have contributed to my fatigue during exercise and over the course of my life day has contributed. After speaking to my doctor and doing some research, I decided to add this low-dose creatine product to my diet. I started with half the recommended serving and increased to the full amount within a week. Although I noticed an improvement in my energy levels, I started having severe nighttime leg cramps shortly after. Although I occasionally have leg cramps at night, these have been the most common and worst cramps of my life. I take supplemental electrolytes and drink about a gallon of water each day, so staying hydrated shouldn't be a problem. I reduced the amount back to half the portion and since then the cramps have subsided. This can only be my experience as I have read articles claiming that creatine has nothing to do with cramps. However, I think this potential side effect should still be considered before purchasing. I will be speaking to my doctor and would advise anyone introducing new supplements into their diet to do the same.
