Why I love it: We have a vacation rental and I overload the beds with mattress pads to give the mattresses a good protection. The large bulky mattress pads (which I have had on all three beds) are very difficult to wash and need to be washed more often than your own bed's mattress pad because you just don't know who slept on it and that they slept. listed. Small children pee, and women have monthly accidents, etc., so waterproof mattress covers are important. Can't comment on the waterproofness yet as I've only just put them on. What I can tell you is that it is lightweight and appears to have a protective plastic barrier on the back. It's soft and supple. Doesn't make plastic sounds. I actually said it had a plastic back, but plastic is probably the wrong word. It doesn't have the plastic or wine smell that some mattress pads have. So I have a zippered mattress cover and then it's covered with this mattress cover and I think it's perfect. When it comes time to wash it, I know I can throw it in my regular washing machine without overloading it. This is exactly what I was looking for. Bottom Line: I wanted a thin waterproof mattress topper and didn't care that I didn't need to upgrade the mattress' appearance.
