Review on 🔒 Enhanced Security with Kwikset 909 SmartCode Electronic Deadbolt featuring SmartKey in Lifetime Polished Brass by Carlos Massey

I installed it on a steel exterior door and found that the latch assembly could not be modified on site for paneled doors. You must purchase a latch designed for flush mounting. Kwikset doesn't even list the part number in the installation guide. I couldn't find this part at Lowe's or Home Depot, but I did find it on Revain.com. It's a real disappointment that I had to shell out another $21 for this part. Every other set of locks I've installed in the last 40 years includes a deadbolt assembly that allows the plate around the deadbolt to be easily removed to allow for a flush install, but not this one. Since most exterior doors are made of steel or fiberglass, it seems to me that your latches should be designed to be field adjustable. It speaks of poor design and engineering. I just hope this damn thing works once installed.
