All you really need to know is that they smudge, although their advantage is that they don't smudge once they dry. After three different tests, letting it dry for an hour, blow drying it and letting it dry overnight, the colors smudged every time I brushed them with a damp brush. I will not be returning them as they can still be used for other watercolor applications although I bought them for their advertised ability to remain intact once dry. These pens are expensive and don't work properly so I am very disappointed and will not be buying Derwent products again. Fool me once, be ashamed of her, fool me twice, be ashamed of me.
