It was what I wanted, but not what I wanted. Yes, I wanted a gate that cats could go through but not dogs. Unfortunately my 20 lb dog can go through this. I wanted a high gate so the dogs couldn't climb over it and I got it. However, it's impractical for humans: it's not walkable and doesn't have a door, so every time I walk through a door, it has to be removed and replaced, which is a bit cumbersome. This gate is high enough to make it difficult for cats to climb over when the small cat door is closed, so it's somewhat useful when I want to keep the cats away from the dogs for a while. These gates aren't very strong: they won't resist a determined child or animal pushing and shoving them when they really want to go through them: my pit could pass in a jiffy if she really wanted to. So it works for cats as it slows down the little dog a bit as it chases them and gives them a chance to get to a high place before going through the gate and as such it fulfills his to a degree Purpose.
