I was wondering how to mount my Christmas lights in my new home as none of the products fit. The traditional ones are really made to hold heavy objects that need their weight to protect themselves, such as a hanging plant. For lighter Christmas garlands, attach them to each hook to ensure they hang securely and securely. I also don't like the gutter clips because they are made of the cheapest plastic and therefore break quite often. More importantly, they hang your lights up front so the wires are visible and all of your lights and connections are exposed to the environment. Then I found this little gem. Now it is very easy to install the light. Although I still tie the lanterns, I only have to do this every 5 feet or so to keep an almost perfectly straight line. I installed them every two feet, but I also have some pretty heavy lights with a combination of traditional icicle lights and these new big (shooting stars) icicle shaped lights. My system now holds them in place and even in the rain they stay dry and mostly windproof. My wife suggested hanging plants from them during the winter months, but these hooks aren't designed to hold that much weight. They're light for Christmas, a few pounds at most. Overall I cannot be happy with these hooks and I really don't see why anyone would buy anything else.
