It turns out that the mounting screw is hollow - the small hex screw that holds the legs to this tripod screws 'into' this screw from below - not the best design to support the weight of an IMO crane. I had high hopes for this device as it felt like a solid piece of machinery and my experience with Amazon shows that cheap doesn't always mean poor quality. As two of them failed I have to conclude that they are not of the highest quality. My previous Pergear had two legs "detached" from the base (looked like a bad job with epoxy), now this one has a faulty mounting screw. Don't rely on them under the pressure of running and shooting. [Previous Rating]This one was purchased for free as part of the Zhiyun Crane v2 sale. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my Zhiyun Smooth-Q. The wide base makes the suspension very stable. I attached an Arca-Swiss style plate to it so I can quickly attach and detach the gimbal when needed. It's not a complex device by any means, but it does add length so you can safely use the stabilizers in "torch mode". This makes two-handed operation in vertical mode very easy, and you can leave it attached when using a two-handed rod. It is also very convenient for the balancing process. (I found out the hard way that there is a procedure for properly balancing a gimbal)
