If I had to do it again I would go one size up. The image with the hand is slightly distorted to scale. Apparently they were modeled by a man with tiny hands. I only needed them to go through the grommets on the tarp and snap onto the thin wire. They were almost too small for that. In addition to the size, they are made of stainless steel. So they should work just fine.
