I bought the SN850 on sale a few months ago because of the ground clearance without a heatsink. If I were to buy a version with a heatsink I wouldn't look for a separate one. Okay, first I used the tape attachment system, NOT the screw attachment system. It might have worked with a screw mount, but I haven't tried it. There isn't much clearance, and the bands seemed to offer the best clearance option with even, constant pressure running the length of the drive without worrying about the side screws loosening over time due to thermal expansion and contraction solve. Don't bother with the palette either. Since the SN850 is a single-sided drive, there was no real reason to use a screw mounting system, which I wasn't. In any case, you can only use it with the thicker of the two options, and I ended up going with the thinner option. Both the thinner and thicker options work with the strips, but when I used the thicker one, it turned out that it was big enough to touch the PS5's drive bay cover when it was put back on. This meant that when the cap was screwed on, there was pressure on the drive and thus on the socket, which I didn't want. The slimmer variant allowed the drive bay cover to be put on and screwed on without touching the drive, which meant that the drive was not put under any additional load. Overall I was very happy with it. Multiple sizes and mounting options in one kit at a great price, plus thermal interface material.
