Review on ๐Ÿš— Noico Black 80 Mil 36 Sq Ft Car Sound Deadening Mat: Butyl Automotive Deadener for Restoration & Noise Dampening Insulation by Bradley Wacks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I just spent 12 hours installing 72 square feet of this

I have been installing professionally for a little over 10 years. I've found more than enough noise isolation like this from every brand under the sun. In terms of actual thickness, a butyl product can be 80 mils. But it's hard to tell because the film is SUPER THIN. It is well known that gloves should be worn when installing such soundproofing. Thick foil can look like a razor if you get it right. Well, you're going to have to work really hard to cut yourself with that thing. In general everything is fine. I'm certainly not a Dynamat fan due to the price rip off, but it's clear that the Dynamat Xtreme is a superior product to this one. Absolutely obvious. But it's also more than twice the price. So yes, Noico still offers better value for money. But I would like to know the details in advance. Noico, please write down the thickness of the film and the percentage of butyl. Both specifications are published by many competitors. On the plus side, it's virtually odorless. I don't usually worry about this as it goes away in a day or two. But it's good right out of the box. Its adhesive properties are acceptable. Adequate, but nothing special. If I screwed a piece tightly onto the panel and then changed my mind and wanted to remove it immediately, I could do it without making a mess. It will pull up with some effort. I don't see any problem on vertical surfaces when they heat up, even over a long period of time. Should be good. FYI, 72 square feet isn't enough for a 2013 Ford Focus 4dr hatchback. I know you don't need 100% coverage to be effective but my doors are 40% closed plus what you see in the photos and it still wasn't enough for me, one tailgate and one to do tailgate. I didn't touch the roof either. This spare wheel storage area needed it. Real thin.
