The most important component to tuning your bike

Moving the handlebars is probably the cheapest change that has the biggest impact on a better bike fit. Imagine stretching your arms out where they would most like to be and then moving the bars to get them right there! Now, what modification to the stem would allow this, or get you as close as possible? Buyer Note: There are two common handlebar widths where the slope meets. Get the one that fits your handlebar (existing or new). Then there are different lengths and angles on the stem increase. Usually you go up because you can take off the spacers to lower it, and you get older and less agile instead of younger and more acrobatic. Wider bars forward provide more stability (and torque), narrower bars further back provide more responsiveness (and possible stuttering). But basically you want to keep your hands where they need to be to extend your rides and still manage your bike efficiently. Your body geometry probably isn't as easy to change as your bike frame. So start with your real body, choose or adopt a real bike frame, and then tweak the handlebars, risers, and seatposts to find the best fit. Climbers are the cheapest.
