To date, every downlight I've installed in my 4" boxes has had one of two problems: they hum or Most dimming level was still too bright (or both). This product has not a single problem. While most of the others I've tried have their dimming level hovered around 10% of full brightness, they seem to ramp up to as much as 1%. . In fact, using a Lutron Caseta dimmer (which they seem to be fully compatible with), I can adjust the brightness in one percent increments and see a 1% to 2% difference. This makes a big difference when it comes to soft decorative lighting. The mounting clips took a little getting used to (you just have to turn them counter-clockwise after pressing), but they were effective. The brightness gradient is also a bit strange: Setting the dimmer to 20% does not work. much brighter than at 10%, similar to 30% i not much brighter than 20%. However, 40% is much brighter than 30%, going from 40% to 50% and from 50% to 60% before the brightness level decreases again as you step through the remaining 10% increments. I was expecting a linear response, but it looks more like an S curve. This isn't a problem for me as I'll most likely keep it at 30% or below, but it was weird to see. At 100% brightness, these lights are really, really bright - I can't believe they're only 65 watts. are equivalent as they look more like doubles, but that's just my subjective impression. They are rated for 2700K and match the 2700K tubes I have in the next room almost perfectly. At $6.50 for the light it's a steal - I'd happily pay 2-3 times more for this near perfect product.
