My leather suite has been passed on in the family for over 20 years. Most of us have cats, a couple have dogs, one has children. So they were used hard. Finding a color match is a time-consuming process of trial and error. I think the key to helping the cat scratch the tufts or "waves" of the surface is to give the whole thing a good sanding with a 240 grit sanding block to get the tops of the ground pieces off. I bought two sets as I wasn't sure what colors I would need for my own paint. As it turned out, I needed both. The base color was tan from the beige set, with some taupe from the same set and a hint of sand from the beach set. I ended up getting a damn near perfect color with them. However, I didn't have enough tan to really do all the things I needed to do. However, I have most of the worst parts. Discussing if I really want to buy another set so I can only use one bottle. How it hides scratches and other marks depends on the marks. I was able to apply neon pink nail polish to my hands, which is shocking, with multiple layers applied with a cotton swab just to the areas and then smeared in a thin layer over the rest of the area. However, the ink stick on the seats has spilled from a thin application and I don't have enough paint to apply another coat. One more thing to keep in mind. This product by itself, as others have pointed out, is not a permanent solution. Good housekeeping, like wiping away those dirty paw prints that the dog wants to track, will get rid of them. They MUST end up with some kind of sealant. The sealant I bought says to wait 72 hours. I'm not sure I'll last that long! At least try to keep the dogs out if they arrive wet or dirty until they are completely dry. Another point regarding sealing is the finish. This color leaves a very matte finish. Once I found the perfect match for my skin tone, the only indication it had been renewed was the altered shine. The sealant should fix that. Basically, the idea is not bad. It will not make my furniture set look new again. And a small set is definitely not enough to significantly upgrade the entire living room. You will never be able to fully heal the corners that cats have used as scratching posts. But they can transform your living room from "did you get that from the junkyard?" to "comfy furniture you loved very much." My mother was so impressed that she asked me to order a gray set and have it made.
