I bought this to replace a blown head gasket in my modified Merkur XR4Ti. The gasket that blew up was a Fel-Pro 1035, but it must have failed due to improperly tightened head bolts. The new gasket came in fairly easily. The advantage over the 1035 (which can handle more boost) is that the 8993 doesn't need a clean head and block surface to seal properly. It's more forgiving. I've ridden less than a hundred miles with this seal but so far no issues with the 17-18psi boost I've given it. Very important.
